About Therfield
Therfield lies near the North Hertfordshire border, on a ridge of the Chiltern Hills roughly 3.5 miles south-west of Royston. The nucleus of the village stands around an unusual triangular shaped green, with the church located on one edge and the last remaining village pub (The Fox and Duck) along another.
A motte and bailey castle was erected here, north-west of the church, in the 12th Century. But sadly, nothing of it remains today.
