About Wallington
The tiny hamlet of Wallington lies on the northern slope of the chalk hills of North Hertfordshire, between the market towns of Royston and Baldock. The hill on which the single winding street stands is almost surrounded by the Cat Ditch, a tributary of the River Beane.
Wallington Bury is situated at the head of the street, with St Mary’s church and rectory nestled just below it.motte and bailey castle was erected here, north-west of the church, in the 12th Century. But sadly, nothing of it remains today.
