Nestled between the villages of Croydon and Wimpole, Arrington lies in the county of South-West Cambridgeshire, 6.5 miles from Royston town. The only main road running through it is the A1198, the ancient Ermine Way; most of the village ascends from here onto the West Cambs chalkhills, including the village church of St Nicholas.
Despite its small clustered size, Arrington has a number of listed buildings besides the church and an ancient coaching inn (now pub and restaurant), The Hardwicke Arms. The village name derives from Anglo-Saxon origins, the earliest recorded form being ‘Earnningtonne’, relating to a local tribe who once inhabited the district.
