Is there a risk that you can catch COVID 19 from surfaces ?
It’s possible that you could acquire SARS-CoV2 if you touch your mouth, nose, or eyes after touching a surface or object that has the virus on it. However, this is not considered to be to be the main way that the virus spreads.
So how long can COVID last on a surface ? Two studies were carried out. In both studies, the surfaces to which the virus had been applied were incubated at room temperature. Samples were collected at different time intervals, which were then used to calculate the amount of viable virus.
Keep in mind: Although SARS-CoV-2 can be detected on these surfaces for a particular length of time, the viability of the virus, due to environmental and other conditions, is not known.

The results were as follows ;
Plastic and Stainless steel. 3 to 7 days. Copper, Up to 4 hours, Paper up to 4 days, Glass, Up to 4 days, Cardboard 24 hours and Wood Up to 2 days.
